‘When Thoroughbreds Star’ by MiSociety
The stunning transformation of the famous Inglis bloodstock sale ring was extraordinary with a galaxy of chandaliers festooning the enormous ceiling space and a magnificient ice horse rearing up from the centre bar.
The ‘black tie’ adorned guests were the who’s who of the international racing world and Sydney’s most glamorous society ‘thoroughbreds’ – all gathered for a social racing occasion that will prove hard to beat.
The inaugural ‘Stable of Stars’ gala event celebrated Racing NSW, Australian Jockey Club, Sydney Turf Club, Tabcorp, Inglis and Events NSW working together to revitalise and transform the Autumn Racing Carnival and make Sydney and NSW a leading turf and tourism destination.
The Autumn Racing Carnival is one of five re-occurring anchor events on the NSW Master Events Calendar (launched October 2008) by Events NSW.

‘A great night’ by Bill Ranken
I was chauffered to the event in a hired car from Uniting Ex Services (driven by a delightful guy called Nick) along with social writer Amy Cooper who kindly invited me along for the ride.
The event was held in the Inglis bloodstock sale ring and 600 formally dressed guests quaffed champagne and watched a parade of some past champion race horses including Might and Power, and Danzero. A highlight was Makybe Diva’s foal by Galilao, a really flashy colt with two white socks and a white blaze. I wonder if he isn’t to pretty to be a winner – after all his mother was a plain jane.Share
