ME Bank Starlight Cinema has announced a stellar line up of films that will make up the 2012 season of the North Shore’s much-loved outdoor cinema.

ME Bank Starlight Cinema is returning for its ninth year and continues to grow in popularity thanks to its unique blend of quality family, recent release, classic and art house films, combined with great entertainment and delicious food and wine in the beautiful relaxed atmosphere of North Sydney Oval.

Starlight Cinema 2012 opening night of the 2012 programme will take on a distinctly French flavour with Woody Allen’s MIGHTNIGHT IN PARIS. A romantic comedy starring Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Kathy Bates and Carla Bruni, MIDNIGHT IN PARIS is the story of a young man’s great love for a city, and the illusion people have that a life different from theirs would be much better.
Highlights of the 2012 season also include screenings of TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART 1, WE BOUGHT A ZOO, HAPPY FEET TWO, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL, the Australian box-office smash hit, RED DOG as well as a special Valentine’s Day screening of the much-loved romantic drama, THE NOTEBOOK.
3 March 2012 - The Brazilian Festa & WASTE LAND screening
Celebrate all things Brazilian with a combination of Brazilian dance, music, cocktails and food along with a special screening of the award winning Brazilian documentary, WASTE LAND (M).
The Brazilian Festa will feature a Carnival parade complete with drumming, costumes, feathers, girls and dancing. Get active by taking part in a Zumba workshop, playing football or enjoying a game of frescoball, or sit back and enjoy a talk by Jayme Akstein on the fundamentals of Brazilian Carnival or the complexities of crossing cultures between Brazil and Australia presented by Cristina Wulfhorst.
Children and family friendly – kids can participate in the Mask workshop, have their faces painted, play football games on the oval, and see a special screening of the animated smash-hit RIO (G).
Cinema-goers can bring their own rug, cushions and picnic basket to enjoy the full alfresco experience under the summer sky.
Crust Lawn Lounge
ME Bank Starlight also offers the option of enjoying a bean bed in the Crust Lawn Lounge, back rests or for luxury lovers, the renowned ‘ME Bank Star Class’ which includes a personal deck chair, hamper and waiter service on the Dining Terrace before the film.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy music, the spaciousness of the Oval and a delectable selection of food and beverages available from the Numero Uno Marquee and Hungerford Hill Bar.
