STOMPede at Sydney’s Theatre Royal
Wow this show is awesome! The ‘full house’ audience on the opening night loved it – they laughed, giggled and participated all the way through and were hammering for more. If you want more and plan to see it more than once you won’t be disappointed as the cast is rotated for every show so each performance is unique.
This is all not surprising as the cast members are a tremendous team of performers. MiSociety chatted at length with them at the after party and they are all what you see on stage. There’s no over blown egos here amongst these guys (and gals) just sheer talent, enthusiasm and comraderie.
STOMP was originally conceived by Luke Cresswell and Steve Steve McNicholas who performed vignettes as street performers and went on to take their act to various festivals – with the whole concept snowballing from there. Now there are at least five STOMP companies roaming the world at any one time.
STOMP also has an outreach program to encourage kids to find an outlet through rhythm and beat to help offset some of the problems facing youth today.
So hurry hurry hurry and stomp on down to Sydney’s Theatre Royal as it’s only on till 26 April 09.
