A snorkel trip around Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve (adjacent to Shelly Beach), an informative presentation on the ‘Science of the Surf’ by an international expert on rips, and teaming up with the ‘Princess of Plastic’ to make recycled artworks are three of the family-friendly ‘Summerama 2012’ activities on offer in Manly this coming January.

  • Princess of Plastic – Wednesday 18 January 2012 – 4-5pm
  • Science of the Surf – Thursday 19 January 2012 – 7-8pm

Princess of Plastic
Join the ‘Princess of Plastic’ and Ecodivers and create sculptures out of objects commonly found littering the sea floor! Presented free of charge, but bookings are essential.

Science of the Surf
‘Science of the Surf’ is a free, entertaining and multiple award winning presentation about how our beaches work; from the journey of tiny little sand grains onto your favourite beach, to the massive swell that rolls in during big storms, to how to spot a deadly rip current – this talk is for anyone who loves and is interested in the beach. It also has a beach safety theme throughout. Suitable for adults and children aged 10-plus.
