Architecture for people – to be seen, touched, immersed in and experienced
Sydney Architecture Festival 2011 was launched in the most suitable venue in town, Customs House. Guests at the party tramped all over Sydney during the evening – not the real city of course, but the brilliant scale model of it illuminated under the glass floor of Customs House.
Great architecture is what creates good living spaces not just for today but for future generations. The Sydney Architecture Festival 2011 is about looking to the future and the directions it may take and to inspire city dwellers to delve into the architecture of the possible.
The 2011 Architecture Festival can be seen, touched, immersed in and experienced at many venues throughout Sydney and at 20 cultural leading cultural institutions including CarriageWorks, Customs House, Sydney Opera House, Museum of Sydney, Penrith Regional Gallery, Sydney College of the Arts and the University of New South Wales.
Sydney’s CBD laneways and public spaces will be taken over by architectural installations created by students of the built environment from the University of New South Wales as part of the STREETWORKS exhibition.
