About the Artists and Exhibition
Renee French is an award winning American comic book writer/artist and graphic novelist.  She is also a children’s book author under the pen name Rainy Dohaney.  In 2007 French was nominated for a number of American comics industry awards including best artist and in the same year was awarded Winner of the highly acclaimed Inkpot Award in San Diego.  Renee French is somewhat of a rock star of book illustration and her characters are gorgeously bizarre, detailed and refined.  She prefers to think of her art, graphite on paper, as making drawings..  Her latest graphic novel, H Day, is due for release in October through Picturebox.

Shelley Burnham is an Australian artist and painter of extraordinary talent.  This is beautifully demonstrated in her love for Australian landscapes and her gentle observations of everyday life.  This new series of rocks and stones is exquisite in their observation of something simple and organic using a beautiful natural colour palate. Reds are sensuous and lush, whilst blues, purples, greys and yellows are absorbing and relaxing.

Together they are exhibiting beautifully detailed drawings and acrylic paintings of rocks, pebbles and stones.  French has covered hers in thin, flesh-like sheaths bandaged and gently wrapped them in hair and twine.  Burnham offers the viewer simple and sometimes stunning colour in her rendering of these forms.
