150 artists will have works in this show. We have had entries from Germany, Italy, the USA. Every state and territory in Australia is represented. Artists have gone in every direction – some have painted, some have experimented with the record and others have used the record for inspiration. The range of artists is huge – a cross of emerging and well established. Styles vary from up front street art to highly traditional. Ages range from teenagers to senior artists – showing the multi generational appeal of vinyl. The majority of artists are under 40.
•  Opening night
Opening night is Friday 21st May from 6-10pm. Four hours of DJs playing only vinyl as we officially open the Medium: Vinyl exhibition.
Hardware Gallery has built a reputation for huge launches and exhibition parties – the gallery has its own DJ booth on the main floor. The Launch of Medium: Vinyl will be the biggest yet.
DJs: Neil Hume, Westernsynthetics, Toon, Savage Gee
To be officially opened by Maynard – ABC radio, former ABC TV, Channel V host and founder of Madd Club
•  Indoor vinyl market
As with last year, we are converting part of the gallery into an indoor vinyl market. Crates and crates of used vinyl records will be available for sale, market style – Hardware Gallery is bringing out several thousand extra records for it, plus there will be records from other shops,  collectors, record labels and DJs. Turntables will be set up in the gallery for the duration of the show providing an aural backdrop to the exhibition. Extra listening stations will also be in place for buyers and browsers to listen with.
