Singing auditions now open
Would-be choral singers with dreams of performing before a sell-out concert crowd will get their chance when Sydney Philharmonia Choirs brings its public singing spectacular, ChorusOz back to Sydney Opera House on 12-13 June.
This year’s ChorusOz promises to be most challenging and rewarding yet, with amateur choristers invited to read, rehearse and ultimately perform one of the true masterpieces of the choral repertoire, Edward Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius. Composed in 1900 and based on a poem by Cardinal Newman, Gerontius relates the voyage of a pious man’s soul from his deathbed to his judgement before God.
Now in its sixth year, ChorusOz has become a much-anticipated feature on the Sydney entertainment calendar with aspiring singers travelling from across Australia and even overseas for the chance to perform on one of the world’s iconic concert stages. Last year’s event attracted almost 1000 aspiring singers of all ages.
Saturday 12 June & Sunday 13 June
Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House
Registrations must close end of May
