Glebe Street Fair – Umbrellas to jazz up 2010 Glebe Street Fair – bring your brolly to help to create a new world record.
- Sunday 21 November 2010 10am-5pm
- Broadway end of Glebe Point Road – FREE ENTRY
Thousands of umbrellas – from cocktail sticks to golf umbrellas, window displays to menu board drawings – will this year provide a colourful and quirky theme to one of Sydney’s most popular street events.
The Glebe Street Fair being held on Sunday 21 November 2010 will take its umbrella theme to global heights in an attempt to make a new world record by having the most umbrellas open at the same time in one location.
The Glebe Chamber of Commerce runs the fair on a not for profit basis and has incrementally built the fair up over the past twenty six years to the point where the event now attracts around 100,000 people. With the exciting umbrella theme, organisers are predicting a record crowd to the 2010 event.
“The fair is really something to see”, says Ms Sofi Lidgren, President of the Glebe Chamber of Commerce. “A kilometre long strip of Glebe Point Road is simply packed with hundreds of stalls. It’s an amazing atmosphere, a wonderful event for the whole family. Glebe really is in its element on this particular day and the umbrella theme is simply fantastic.”
The stalls sell a range of wares including designer clothing, ceramics, crafts, glass, artwork, bric-a-brac, books, puzzles, children’s toys and food. There are also a number of children’s rides, along with music groups and roving entertainers.
The Fair takes place along Glebe Point Road from Broadway to Bridge Road. Anyone wanting more details on the fair or wishing to book stall space should phone 02 4229 1088 or visit www.glebestreetfair.comShare
