The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2012 Awards Presentations, Hordern Pavillion Sydney
Sepia took out the Vittoria Coffee Restaurant of the Year 2012 with Peter Gilmore of Quay winning the Citibank, Chef of the Year and Bilson’s regaining a hat to join est., Marque, Quay and Sepia with 3 chef’s hats each at the Awards Presentations for the SMH Good Food Guide Awards 2012.
Joanna Savill, co-editor of The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2012, said: “Sepia’s win comes as well-deserved recognition of the amazing things chef Martin Benn and front-of-house, Vicky Wild, have achieved in just two short years.
Peter Gilmore’s (Quay Restaurant) winning of the Chef of the Year Award prompted SMH Good Food Guide 2012 co-editor, Terry Durack, to state “Peter is a truly worthy winner of this award. He has led Quay to win Restaurant of the Year three times, but this year we decided to acknowledge him individually as an innovator, an enormous creative talent and a worthy leader of his kitchen team”.
Louis Roederer Champagne and Brown Bros wines were in abundance as we supped on fine cheeses and meats piled high on the surrounding tables, before the offerings of Gelatissimo mini ice creams and Le Cordon Bleu chokkies made the rounds. Guests needed all this sustenance to fortify them for the task of carrying home the generous (and very heavy) goodie bags. List of all the ‘Hat’ and other Award winners
