Mondial Neuman Jewellers, Children of Africa at Sherman Galleries, Voi Designer Fashion House and Zeta Bar’s 5th birthday party.
Tuesday 9 November 2010
Mondial Neuman, Jewellers, celebrated 50 years in business in Sydney this week throwing a party at their very stylish Stand Arcade store for both this milestone and the birthday of company founder, Fred Neuman.
Mondial Neuman are famous for their amazing pink diamond range and on this night Nadia Neuman was wearing one of the most extraordinary pendants that MiSociety has ever seen. The pendant, designed by Nadia, was 200 hours in the making and is aptly named ‘The Creation’. Incorporating a virtual diamond mine the piece, Nadia explained, was inspired as being “spiritual yet interdenominational”.
On the same night over at the Sherman Gallery the launch of Alethea Gold’s photographic book ‘The Children of Africa’ was well and truly humming by the time we arrived. Out on the Sherman’s ‘stoney range’ that is the courtyard it could almost have been Africa on this steamy night. The sale of the books and prints raised $8,000 for MaAfrika Tikkun’s work with orphans and vulnerable children in South Africa’s townships.

Voi Designer Fashion House threw open their store for VIP’s and customers to gather, peruse their current stock, drink some excellent Italian wines, taste canapés and then dance along to a ‘very traditional’ Italian sing-a-long duo.
The high attendance of learned ‘Silks’ here was due to the massive range of men’s Italian designer suits that Voi offer alongside their ladies wear, hand bags and shoes, all of which, we were told, are open for negotiation before ultimate settlement.
Zeta Bar’s 5th birthday party beckoned so we surfed out from ‘Naples’ in Sydney on down Castlereagh Street to wiggle our toes in the sandy depths of the Zeta Bar in the Hilton Hotel. Perhaps it was some of Sydney’s wild weather earlier in the evening that had dissuaded the bulk of party goers from donning the ‘retro beach wear’ theme but at least the models here kept to their brief -‘briefs’. With the storms cleared we struggled to find a spot on Zeta’s spectacular balcony overlooking the QVB to munch our way through ‘vodka fairy floss’, alcohol infused ice cream and toffee apples – good fun and happy birthday Zeta Bar.
