Emirates Doncaster Day is hailed as one of the nation’s most prestigious sporting events with Sydneysiders descending trackside for a blockbuster racing line-up.

John Singleton-owned and Gai Waterhouse-trained mare More Joyous will be at the starting gate in the $2 million Emirates Doncaster Mile.

Gai Waterhouse will aim to equal her father, the legendary TJ Smith’s record of seven Emirates Doncaster Mile wins.  Inspired by Singleton, if More Joyous wins this weekend, Gai has offered to shout the bar to all race book holders at Royal Randwick.

The Emirates marquee historically showcases one of the airlines destinations and for 2011 the famous VIP marquee will be Spanish-themed where celebrity chef Miguel Maestre will impress the star-studded crowd with his delicious culinary offerings.

Royal Randwick racegoers for the 2011 Emirates Doncaster Day will be able to join in the fun and colour of Spain being all given the chance to win a trip to Madrid by participating in the Emirates Flamenco Dance performances at 1.15pm and 2.30pm next to the meeting tree – open to everyone.
A Fashion Spotting competition will be hotly contested which will see fashion insiders including Jodi Gordon, Nerida Winter (Milliner), Gigi Edgley (Actor) and Kelly Lipman (Designer) peruse the track handpicking the best dressed fillies on course.  One lucky trackside guest will be given the chance to win a $50,000 bet on the Group 1 Emirates Doncaster Mile.
