The Inaugural City of Sydney’s ‘Sydney Rides Festival’ will feature a range of exciting events designed to appeal to everyone including a City Ride crossing the Harbour Bridge, family fun days, film screenings, music concerts and an art exhibition.

26 September to 16 October 2011Sydney Rides Challenge: a fun workplace competition to see which Sydney business or organisation can get the greatest percentage of their staff to ride a bike. 8 October 2011Street Fair of Riding Goodness: Official launch of the Sydney Rides and Sydney Bicycle Film Festivals. The Festival will launch in spectacular style with the Sydney Rides and Sydney Bike Film Festival’s Street Party, a free family-focused street party and afternoon in the sun for all ages featuring riding demonstrations, workshops, music and market stalls in Darlinghurst.

11 October 2011 – Sydney Rides Challenge ‘Try-A-Bike’ Session. Want to take part in the Sydney Rides Challenge but don’t have access to a bike? Well use one of ours!

12 October 2011 – Commuters on bikes will be able to enjoy a free breakfast at Hyde Park between 7am and 9.30am as a thank you for taking part in National Ride to Work Day. People stopping off will also be able to take advantage of a free bike check and tune-up and get some bike posture advice from the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

13 October 2011 – Bi Art Exhibition at the Somedays Gallery in Surry Hills. This free exhibition will feature works by some of Australia’s and the world’s most progressive and emerging artists who will use a reproduction of a vintage bicycle poster as the inspiration for their art.

14 October 2011 – The Sydney Bike Film Festival (SBFF) will also come aboard for Sydney Rides, running a week-long program of events including a street fair to launch the Festival, film screenings, social rides, a music concert and art exhibition.
15 October 2011 – Bike Polo in the Park. Those looking for a more energetic pursuit can join members of Sydney Bike Polo at Alexandria Park.  It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a bike or have never played before, you can go along, hop on a bike and learn how to get started.
16 October 2011 – The annual Spring Cycle, organised by Bicycle NSW (BNSW) and in its 28th year, will for the first time include a 16 kilometre City Ride for families and novice riders wanting to explore the city in a safe environment. The Spring Cycle City Ride will end with at Pirrama Park in Pyrmont where there will be a free family bike fun day with live music, circus entertainers and bike acrobats, kids’ activities and food stalls.
16 October 2011 – the Festival will finish the SBFF’s City to Surf Ride with bike riders enjoying a leisurely ride from Surry Hills to Bondi where the final screening of the SBFF will take place at the Beach Road Hotel.
