Rock around the clock at Rose Seidler House on Sunday 29 August for the Historic Houses Trust’s annual Fifties Fair, a fun-filled day of 1950s music, dance, fashion and shopping.
Bop along to the swing and rockin’ hillbilly tunes on the main stage including The Velvet Set, The Rechords & Lainie Lane, and rock out with the live 50s DJ Limpin’ Jimmy & The Swingin’ Kitten DJ.
Learn how to do the twist, jitterbug and cha-cha with dance demonstrations and classes from the Swingtime Dance crew throughout the day.
Dress in your favourite fifties threads and show off your inner cool cat or pin-up girl in the famous Fifties Fair fashion parade, prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed.
Have your hair styled in a bouffant or quiff by the 50s hairdresser and discover the art of pin curling and rolling.
Specialist dealers and collectors will be selling collectables and memorabilia from the 1950s including household gadgets, plasticware, books, glassware, ceramics, toys, comics, knick-knacks, clothes, swimwear, lingerie and furniture.
Inquisitive kids will enjoy the fifties science show, craft activities, hula hoop lessons and limbo.
Take a tour of historic Rose Seidler House, the first commission of internationally renowned architect Harry Seidler, featuring open planning, minimalist design, mod cons and appliances and the original furniture.
A free shuttle bus will operate between Turramurra station and Rose Seidler House for the duration of the event.
