Northern Sydney’s Epicentre Theatre Company presents a powerful adaptation for stage of the Steinbeck classic, Of Mice and Men – directed by Judith Bedard with a cast featuring Adam Dunn, Cheyne Fynn, Wayne McDaniel, Andrew Madden, Donny Muntz, Katherine Shearer, Ollie Clarke, Alan Long, Michael Sutherland and Adrian Twigg.
In Depression-era California, dreams are all a man possesses, and hope the only thing that keeps him alive. But hope is a double edged sword…
The play is based on John Steinbeck’s 1937 classic novella of two travelling companions, George and Lennie, who wander the country during the Depression and dream of a better life for themselves. Moving, shocking and ultimately inspiring, this is a timeless and universal tale.
Epicentre Theatre Company has been producing innovative theatre on the Lower North Shore for 40 years, and is one of the founding groups of the Zenith Theatre. One of Sydney’s outstanding community theatre companies, its recent productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2008), The Laramie Project, To Kill A Mockingbird and The Life of Galileo (2009) and, this year, Williamson’s Money and Friends have garnered critical praise and attracted sell-out audiences from all over Sydney – and beyond.
Directing this production is French Canadian Judith Bedard. Judith is a specialist in bringing out the nuances in the text of American classics. She has directed Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Glass Menagerie for Cronulla Arts Theatre, and wrote and directed Epicentre’s charming production of Don Quixote at The Haven Amphitheatre last year.
The Zenith Theatre is located at the corner of McIntosh and Railway Streets in Chatswood.
The Zenith is a modern intimate lyric theatre with full bar facilities, located at the base of the Zenith Towers in Chatswood. The Theatre is easily accessible from the Chatswood Public Transport Hub, just a short walk up Railway St. The Zenith Theatre has undercover parking (fee $7)
