Wednesday 7 July | Public Lecture | The Barry Andrews Memorial Address at UNSW, presented by Kate Jennings
The 2010 Barry Andrews address will be presented by esteemed novelist, essayist, editor and poet, Kate Jennings. The lecture ‘Who are You?’ considers the present and future of writing, and asks:  ‘What is the function of the writer in a new world order where talent has been democratised, everyone’s a critic, and no one wants to pay for content?’ The lecture will be preceded by the announcement of several important Australian literary awards, most notably the ALS Gold Medal. Thursday 15 July | Performance | New Leaves: Farewell Concert for Emerging Australian Pianist Jeremy Chan
Featuring Poulenc’s Sextet for Piano and Winds, Op. 100 (1939) with the Sydney Wind Collective, alongside works by Ravel, Ligeti, Schumann-Liszt, Schubert and Shostakovich. Featuring collaborations with UNSW Honours year students: Audrey Gabor (voice), Alistair Sung (cello), Nichla Smith (voice).
