Park Royal returns as Diane von Furstenberg opens her first Sydney store.
Park Royal Hotels return to Sydney to take out the Crowne Plaza in true 60′s style
Park Royal Hotels, now owned and operated by Pan Pacific Hotels Group, first launched in Australia in 1962 back when Go-Go girls in cages and ‘Swingin Sixties’ music was all the rage. To celebrate the return of the hotel group back to Sydney, on the site that was previously the Crowne Plaza, out came cages to house white boot and mini skirt clad girls to bop along with DJ Brett Martin’s 60′s sounds.
The memory lane music lead us down the red swathed hall and into the coloured light and twinkling starred restaurant area where we were greeted (accosted) by fun entertainers ‘Austin Flowers’ and ‘Aimee Felicity Shagwell’. The renovations haven’t yet begun in earnest on the Park Royal Sydney but the inside story was that carpentry saws were quickly sought when the Go-Go dancers arrived and they were way too tall for their ‘cages’. Serious renovations have started though on the sister hotel Park Royal Parramatta (previously the Crowne Plaza).

Thanks for the 60′s CD’s guys we will have some fun with those over Christmas.
Diane van Furstenberg Store launch in Westfield Sydney reeks credit card havoc.
Diane van Furstenberg herself has an interesting background and her stores are known all over Europe and the UK so the launch of her first store in Australia caused a buzz amongst Sydney’s fashion devotees.
Nacho Pop Dee Jayed as shoppers hit the change rooms to try on and decide which of the, new to Australia, fashions would reek havoc with their credit cards. Gorgeous, willowy models (and sisters) Simone Chatterton and Amanda Kerlin paraded in the DVF creations creating envy amongst the well dressed invitees.
Westfield Sydney is currently a hive of store openings with several companies opening their first outlets in Australia.
