T.M.Lewin Sartorially English Australian Flagship Store Launch Party
T.M. Lewin’s Australian flagship store in Sydney was launched with lashings of English panache befitting a brand that has flourished since it was founded in 1898 when Thomas Mayes Lewin opened his first shop in Jermyn Street, London.
T.M.Lewin, with its three floors of elegantly renovated space, saw invited guests from the industry and media enjoying a night of all things British in Kings Street, Sydney. As Yorkshire puds made the rounds the ‘shoe shine’ station had the guys lined up under the watchful gaze of Art Equity’s images of rock idols Paul Weller and Noel Gallaher.
VIP’s attending included Men’s Style Editor Michael Pickering, Belle Editor-in-chief Neale Whitaker, Sydney Radio icons Chris Smith and Glenn Wheeler, and fashion man about town Alex Zabotto-Bentley.
Damian Downey, the ultimate animated DJ, pulled off a great musical combo of signature British and modern sounds whilst Mumm champagne and Chivas Regal cocktails abounded as guests chatted and perused the shirts, suits and accessories on display.
Mark Dunhill, T.M.Lewin’s International Director who travelled to Sydney for the opening, told us that Thomas Lewin’s watchwords were ‘Great kit at a wonderful price’ – an advertising slogan that is still succinct and meaningful today. Men, where clothes are concerned, have not changed all that much since 1898 – that is to say the thinking guy still seeks affordable sartorial style.
Here’s the thing, however, not all men are born with style bones. Despite today’s plethora of magazine and on-line fashion blogging that’s primarily aimed at the younger man, there is still nothing to beat an experienced personal guiding hand. Good sound fashion advice can set up a young man’s dress sense for life and T.M.Lewin promise to offer that ‘in store’ service and advice.
T.M.Lewin is a retailer who has not only established large numbers of retail outlets internationally (80 stores alone in the UK and Ireland) but one that provide a strong on-line presence for its worldwide customer base.
