Roll up, roll up the food and drinks are on again – and they did – again.
Taste of Sydney 2012 again drew the hoards of Sydneysiders who love their food, wine, cocktails, cider and well anything that they can immerse in their mouths, anywhere where a park can be designated for the exercise.
Food outlets from some of Sydney’s most prestigious eateries had ‘tasters’ lining up for their turn at the feed bag while wine makers offered samples of their grapes beside tables of every imaginable palate experience.
Pop-up bars representing some of Sydney’s trendiest drinking spots were enthusiastically patronised with the cocktails on offer as diverse as the fashions on the field here.
Eau-de-Vie, boasted as being ‘the world’s best new cocktail bar’ reproduced a mock up of their theatrical prohibition styled establishment complete with garbed up waiters embroiled in a Ketel One Vodka cocktails mixing frenzy.
Ketel One Vodka is also (believe it or not) behind the ‘Ketel One Bar Tours’ where Sydney’s burgeoning bar scene can be discovered and experienced while under the directorship of Alex Adams (Sydney’s current Ms Darlinghurst) and Simon McGoram (Booze Braggart).
Cider is rapidly becoming the drink on everyone’s lips (including ours) with a plethora of new flavours and styles. The huge Rekorderlig bar was offering so many different varieties of the brew we struggled to decide before settling into one of their comfy lounges.
Taste’s opening this year was cancelled due to Sydney drowning under an epic wall of rain but the show still rocked for the following days with all tickets being honoured.
