Eightly Australian and International galleries showcased works from hundreds of artists at the The Weekend Australian Art Sydney 2008.
The Royal Hall of Industries, Moore Park was bursting for the opening night of the exhibition which this year featured eighty participating galleries.
The diversity of art on offer was huge in the fair’s relaxed, accessible environment where both first time buyers and seasoned collectors were able to peruse the works of hot new artists as well as established names.
There were literally thousands of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photography, indigenous works and works on paper, including limited edition prints.
At $50 a ticket which covered drinks and nibbles for the exhibition opening night art lovers were able to mingle in the crowd and chat to the participating artists and galleries ahead of the expected 13,000 people expected at Sydney’s premier art viewing and buying experience.
The inside warmth of the Royal Hall of Industries created a thirsty crowd as although advertised as a 6pm – 9pm event the drinks dried up at 8.Share
