THEATRE – Seymour Centre: The Codgers
| April 20, 2010 | to | May 1, 2010 |
*
- Dates: Tuesday 20 April – Saturday 1 May 2010
Eavesdrop on six senior Aussie men, some of them mates since war service, as they sweat it out together each week in a gym and are taken on inter-connected journeys that are challenging, touching and very funny. When secrets, differences and loss of trust threaten to destroy the long-established friendships, they learn that ‘difference’ is more a matter of point of view; that ‘you wouldn’t be dead for quids’ and, no matter what, that you gotta laugh!
The hit Australian stage comedy of 2008 is back in 2010 with more laughs and a couple of new Codgers. Following a triumphant World Premiere at Riverside Theatres Parramatta in July 2008, Codgers toured to sold out audiences in Albury/Wodonga, Griffith , Taree, Coffs Harbour , Lismore, Gosford and Glen Street Theatre at Belrose. Audiences and critics alike acclaimed Don Reid’s entertaining and beautiful play, the winner of the prestigious Rodney Seaborn Playwright’s Award in 2006. This new 2010 national tour visits Adelaide , Sydney, Canberra , Melbourne and regional centres in four states.
Two new “codgers” join the cast of some of Australia’s leading senior actors: Ronald Falk (Nicholas Nickleby/Weary), Ron Haddrick (Festen/The Club), Edwin Hodgeman (Shine/Look Both Ways), Russell Newman (Underbelly II/Guys and Dolls), Jon Lam (Singapore Sling/Matrix Reloaded) and Shane Porteous, returning to his theatrical roots after his time as the much loved Dr. Terence Elliot in A Country Practice.
