Satirising political figures is Gillies’ and Rundle’s forte. Witness their latest political roasting of Kevin Rudd, Tony Abbott, Julia Gillard,
Malcolm Turnbull and more at the Seymour.
“…tight parody of our political landscape… no one escapes the wrath and wit of Gillies and Rundle.” Herald Sun
In a similar vein to Gillies’ and Rundle’s previous satirical works such as The Big Con (2005), and Your Dreaming (2001), Godzone continues the skewering of political figures with a whole new cast of victims. This time around, a political roasting is given to our very own Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott, Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and Shadow Finance Minister Joe Hockey, to name just a few.
Playing a multitude of characters, Gillies uses voices, prosthetics and ingenious make-up to impersonate and make mockery of key political figures and media personalities. With his razor-sharp wit, Guy Rundle shoe horns a cavalcade of political guests into the Revivalist tent of Reverend Kevin. Politics is the new religion – or vice versa.
