Sydney’s vibrant live theatre scene offers a bunch of great shows and events in the weeks and month ahead… don’t be distracted by the silly season!
1-4 December – “The History Boys
” – at Parade Playhouse (NIDA) 8pm Allan Bennett’s brilliant, funny and confronting look at a year 12 class and their bizarre, flawed, passionate teachers. Return season. Not to be missed

4 December – “The Alpha and The Omega” – launch of Stephanie Giannis’ latest inspiring book on the cycle of life and creating a lasting legacy with your life  4pm Sydney Mechanics School of Arts, 280 Pitt St

7 December – Short+Sweet 2011 season launch – the tenth anniversary festival of short theatre kicks off in style at NIDA (Anzac Parade Kensington) from 6pm. Join the stars as the latest festival details are announced. Free entry incl refreshments.

10-30 December – Shakespeare in the Park – at Bella Vista Farm… Romeo+Juliet and As You Like It, alternating in repertory presented by the brilliant young company Sport for Jove and directed by Damien Ryan.

11 December – Theatresports Cranston Cup Final – Enmore Theatre. The impro-comedy climax of the year. The best teams face off in front of celebrity judges and a huge wild audience in search of glory, prizes and the biggest, ugliest trophy in the world
