A real ‘inhouse’ shindig with most starters either connected by bloodstock or stablemates from way back.
The Waterhouse name in Australian is synonymous with horse racing and betting so it was no surprise that Tom Waterhouse has launched his own betting website where he boasts you can place a wager on “any sport, any bet type, anytime”. To launch Tom’s online betting venture three generations of the Waterhouse clan along with the Holmes-A-Court offspring (Tim flew in for the occasion), bestie mate Charlotte Dawson, Rachael Finch, League heavyweight Wendell Sailor and a swag of personalities and names gathered at the Beach Haus in Sydney’s Kings Cross.
It used to be said that Australians would bet on two flies crawling up a wall. Today the options have expanded somewhat with punters now able to legally bet on all manner of things. If at least two people, animals, games or events are competing in anything you can bet your last dollar Tom’s site will give you the heads up.
Trays laden with torquoise coloured cocktails circled us as did the Pommery Champagne and some extra good nibbles. Gai Waterhouse was in her usual good form and, as always, styled to perfection. Louise Raedler-Waterhouse looked fabulous in a stunning black suit and we have to say this do was certainly a very well shod occasion. Bill Ranken mustered the Waterhouse mob together (only he could organise this) for a group shot as it is rare to have all them together in one place.
The party was still going strong as we headed out armed with Gai’s recent book ‘Gai – In My Words’ …hmm looks to be an interesting read.
