On Friday night (6 February 2009 Sydney time) the high octane Jeremy Clarkson with Richard Hammond and their ‘pit crew’ were hold up in Sydney’s Park Hyatt Hotel frantically making many anxious mobile calls in an attempt to put the brakes on the onslaught they are receiving from some British press over Clarkson’ comments regarding the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.
Clarkson, at a press conference in Sydney, called the British Prime Minister a ”one eyed Scottish idiot” either not knowing or forgetting that Prime Minister Brown had lost the sight of one eye in an accident suffered while playing Rugby as a teenager.
Clarkson was overheard on one of his many trips outside the venue to make the phone calls saying “am I in the most sh….” and “what’s the next apology I have to make?” before charging back inside to re-join Hammond and their group as they poured over a laptop scouring English newspaper websites.
Seems motorhead Clarkson eventually made an apology of sorts but refused to apologise for “The idiot bit” and went on to say “there’s no chance I’ll apologise for that.”
Some British press have called for the resignation of Clarkson over his comments regarding the PM and it was blatantly obvious the Top Gear crew were taking this all very seriously indeed.
Hint to Jeremy Clarkson - engage brain before putting mouth into Top Gear!
