Art and Sole Auction of Designer UGG boots to aid the Smith Family
UGG Australia launched its inaugural Art and Sole initiative in the lovely ambient surrounds of  Restaurant Arras at Walsh Bay where some of Australia’s most talented designers gathered to support the Smith Family.

The idea behind Art and Sole for 2010 is to raise much needed funds for the Smith Family Winter Appeal.  To do this designers have taken the classic UGG boot and added their own interpretations.  These customized and very collectable ‘one of a kinds’ will then be auctioned online from 15 – 25 July 2010.

These UGGs are not like any sheepskin loafers you have seen before.  They range from the actual wearable with pieces designed by the likes of Ben Sherman and Hannah McNicole to Kirstin Ash’s ‘spiders’.  The designs then wander over to little stainless steel dipped numbers by TMOD to ‘by johnny’ designed stilettoed creations.  The Nicola Finetti boots are sure to become hot favourites at the auction in their 80’s kitch makeover.  MiSociety’s  favourites?  We couldn’t decide as they are all such fun and creative originals but you can see them for yourselves online (details below).

To bid in the auction for these pieces of sheepskin history and to see the full range and to get behind the Smith Family Winter appeal go to http://www.uggaustraliaartandsole.com.au/

PS MiSociety was impressed by both the warm atmosphere at Restaurant Arras and the terrific staff – well done guys.
