The re-opening party at the Union Hotel at North Sydney was the most fun place to be on Bastille Night 2008. Heralded by fire eaters on the pavement live French music set the tone inside as a ‘Marcel’ impersonator silently created smiles and fun as a contortionist mangled and re-mangled herself in stark contract to an expertly body painted human statue. With not a hint of ‘rent a crowd’ the party goers here were a terrific mix of local identities, regular patrons, media and those involved with this well thought out make-over.
Unrecognisable after its fabulous new re-furbishment the Gallagher Hotel Management’s Union Hotel, now with French influences, all new dining and function areas, open fires and internal courtyard, exudes a wonderfully warm and friendly feel. Hmm.. Sunday lunch in the courtyard sounds good. - MiSociety
