Elle MacPherson, Dannii Minogue and Ian Thorpe jump onboard VAustralia for Abu Dhabi
Elle MacPherson and Dannii Minogue were amongst a star-studded line up at an exclusive cocktail party to celebrate Virgin Blue’s inaugural flight to Abu Dhabi.
Elle, fresh from the daytime launch of Virgin Blue’s new uniforms designed by Project Runway winner Julie Grbac, stepped from her limo into a flurry of flashing photographers flanking the red carpet at the Opera House, Opera Point marquee in Sydney.
Danii Minogue, looking extremely waif like post baby, took to the stage to M.C. the event and to introduce our hosts chief executive of Virgin Blue, John Borghetti and the head of Etihad Airways, James Hogan.
Ian Thorpe didn’t make it to the shindig as he was busy packing his toothbrush in readiness to be a star passenger on VAustralia’s inaugural flight from Sydney to Abu Dhabi the following day.
The great ‘late night sounds’ of Emma Pask and her band gave way to ‘Al-Ayala’, a group of traditional Arabian ‘stick dancers’, as guests were royally treated to the finest food and wine.
V Australia is Virgin Blue’s international offshoot and together with new partner Etihad have now begun services to Europe via the Middle East.
