Vivian Chan Shaw draws a large crowd eager to view 40 years of fine knitwear fashion
Vivian Chan Shaw drew a large crowd of family, friends, clients, media and invited guests to the launch of her retrospective exhibition at the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Sydney’s Surry Hills.
Vivian Chan Shaw began her fashion career in the 1960s launching her label in 1972 with her first collections designed in fabric. This exhibition follows her transition to the hand loomed fine knitwear she is now so famous for.
Guests at the exhibition opening wove their way around the crowd of mannequins displaying Vivian’s fabulous fashion designs spanning 40 years while supping on delicious Chinese delicacies and champagne.
Claudia Chan Shaw, Vivian’s daughter and well known ABC Television presenter, spoke of her mother’s achievement in an emotive and proud speech. Vivian spoke of the wonderful people she has met along the way and thanked her family for their support.
Vivian Chan Shaw won the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fashion Group International of Sydney Awards for Excellence in 2009.
This exhibition is amazing and a must see by fashion students, fashionistas and anyone who appreciates excellence in fashion design and production.
