VIVID Sydney 2012 is going to be absolutely amazing. If you thought VIVID Sydney 2011 was something get ready for what’s happening this year. MiSociety this week was at the unveiling of the 2012 program and we can tell you “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet”..MiSociety. See images below.
Vivid Sydney 2012 features more than 50 light installations and large scale projections around The Rocks and Circular Quay including interactive energy efficient light sculptures and ‘Lighting the Sails’ by URBANSCREEN at Sydney Opera House, along with illuminated skyscrapers and buildings.
The 2012 Vivid Sydney also features contemporary music performances at Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House; international creative industry conferences and the new Vivid Ideas Exchange, a hub for creative ideas, discussion and debate at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Vivid Sydney illuminations extended to Walsh Bay arts precinct
Vivid Light will now see Walsh Bay come alive with interactive light artworks in celebration of the area’s thriving artistic community, and a new collaboration with the Sydney Dance Company. Vivid Sydney will feature 13 new installations to form the Walsh Bay Light Walk, curated by Sydney Dance Company’s resident multimedia artist, Peter Greig.
Florence + The Machine – Opening Night Act
Florence + The Machine, the critically acclaimed English artist, will perform with the Ceremonial Orchestra taking over the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.
YEAH YEAH YEAH’s frontwoman Karen O will present her ‘Psycho Opera’ STOP THE VIRGENS; R&B superstar Janelle Monáe will make her long awaited Australian debut with ‘The ArchAndroid Orchestra’; and New York’s finest creative minds Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly and Sufjian Stevens will collaborate on a special commission for Vivid LIVE.
