VIVID Sydney update. 27 May – 13 June.
The mash up lets the festival live on after the lights are turned off, and was inspired by the thousands of photographers who take to the streets during the event to capture the amazing night photography opportunities it creates.
This year Vivid Sydney is a very special visual feast for photographers – offering over 40 amazing light installations including the stunning 3D mapping projections by SUPERBIEN on the Sydney Opera House sails.
“In 2011, Vivid Sydney is giving a new life to the photos that are taken during the festival period by creating the photo mash up. For photographers, it’s their chance to get their photos seen by fans of the festival – past, present and future,” said Vivid Sydney Executive Producer Ignatius Jones.
“There have literally been thousands of professional and amateur photographers at Vivid Sydney drawn the beauty of the light sculptures and projections. We encourage everyone to share their images on the photo mash up.”
The Vivid Sydney mash up is easy to contribute to – users just need a free Flickr account in order to participate. The mash up helps build a digital legacy and ongoing presence for Vivid Sydney, and all participants will also go in the running to win prizes from HP and Red Balloon.
Vivid Sydney is our annual festival of light, music and ideas running from 27 May – 13 June. The festival is a major celebration of the creative industries and positions Sydney as the creative hub of the Asia-Pacific region. Vivid Sydney is one of five signature events on the NSW Events Calendar.
