Creative Conversations
Hosted by respected arts commentator Stephen Feneley, Art Month’s Creative Conversations talk series will be held at the National Art School Cell Block Theatre in Darlinghurst.
The Wednesday evening events will explore the relationships and dynamics between visual artists and respected practitioners in other creative fields. Confirmed speaker pairings include renowned contemporary artist Lindy Lee in conversation with fashion designer Akira Isogawa.

Inspiring Collecting Talks
Art experts, curators, gallerists and collectors will offer insights into their own collecting experience and tips for embarking on your own art collecting journey. Topics include Video Art, Photography, Ceramics, Indigenous art and Emerging Art.

Opening night at The Ivy Room – Invite Only
Sydney-based artist Tom Polo will create a living artwork on the night using a team of ‘spies’ who will circulate amongst the crowd to collect snippets of overheard conversation. These phrases will then be entered into a computer system that will see them projected on four large-scale screens erected around the sides of the room, creating a moving ‘visual’ conversation.

Late Night Thursdays & Art Bars
Each week, art galleries in the focus Arts Precinct, will offer extended opening hours on Thursday evenings. These will be followed by the popular Art Bars that make a return in 2011. All venues to be revealed closer to the festival launch. The locations for the Art Bars include The Den at the IVY, Australian Centre for Photography, The Beresford Hotel and Sullivan + Strumpf Fine Art in Waterloo.

For the first time in 2011, Art Month Sydney will offer free guided bicycle tours of art galleries, artist studios, public art and street art throughout the focus precincts. Art enthusiasts and commentators including broadcaster Nell Schofield will lead the series of ARTcycle tours following curated routes and along City of Sydney bike pathways, stopping for visits to a range of art galleries. Bike racks will be provided outside participating galleries.

The Art Windows Project
The Art Windows Project returns in 2011 with a new focus on Macleay Street in Potts Point. The project will see some of the area’s leading retailers collaborate with contemporary artists to create site specific installations in their shop windows for the duration of Art Month Sydney.

Artist Talks
Each Saturday in March will offer free artist talks between 11am and 4pm at art galleries and participating Art Month venues in the focus Art Precinct of the week. The talks will be given by artists, gallerists, collectors and art experts and will relate to exhibitions showing at the galleries during Art Month.
The National Art School will also host a series of free lunchtime at talks every Wednesday during Art Month offering fresh insights on contemporary art.
