What’s on Winter School Holidays 2011 at SH Ervin Gallery

Hey kids come along to the SH Ervin Gallery  for fun an engaging holiday programs designed for 5–12 year olds that like to have fun while creating works of art. The workshops will explore fantasy landscapes, surrealist collage portraits and secret symbols inspiring young artists to create weird and wonderful artworks.

Tuesday 12 July – Another World Fantasy Landscape Collage Workshop, 10am – 12noon
After seeing the strange places depicted in Lawrence Daws’ paintings, young artists will be inspired to create their own mysterious land with gigantic mountains and strange monuments.

 Wednesday 13 July – Looking Around Printmaking Workshop, 10am – 12noon
Children will explore the many wonders of Observatory Hill including harbour views, gigantic fig trees and strange ruins to then create a series of prints in response to what they see.

Thursday 14 July – Surrealist Collage Portrait, 10am – 12noon
Frying pan eyes, telescope necks, a mouth made from fish? See just how big your imagination is in this portrait workshop. Make a crazy face inspired by Dada and Surrealist photo-montages.

Friday 15 July – Zine Making Workshop, 10am – 12noon
Create your own Zine – a self published booklet made by hand. Invent secret codes and symbols, tell stories and draw dreams, inspired by the work of Lawrence Daws.
Vacation care groups are welcome with prior notice.
