WICKED the musical hits the Emerald City in OZ
The WICKED opening night bought Sydney to it’s feet with a standing ovation at the Capitol Theatre. With all the glitz, glamour and green the show is famous for the Sydney production will not disappoint.
Amanda Harrison as ‘Elphaba’ and Lucy Durack as ‘Glinda’ lead this superbly talented cast with the magical Bert Newton as the Wizard of OZ. The dazzling costumes by Susan Hilferty are extraordinary with exceptional attention to detail and coupled with shoes by Jodie Morrison of ‘Steppin’ Out’ the show is a must see for this aspect alone.
WICKED is indeed a true theatrical experience in every sense with 54 scenes and locations, each with a distinct light and mood. WICKED has been playing for over five years world wide since it’s Broadway opening and has been seen by over 18 million people. It would be WICKED to miss it!
The opening night after party ‘clicked off’ with invited guests being lead along the green carpet through the backstage of the Capitol Theatre giving us the rare opportunity to view the props and costumes ‘off set’.
Cast members joined the party and MiSociety spent some time chatting with Lucy Durack who is not only brilliantly talented and gorgeous but a most engaging personality.
Green was the theme (of course) with most guests obliging in some shape or accessory form as they crowded in together still buzzing from a truly WICKED experience.
Spotted at the show was Kerry-Anne Kennerley, Lord Mayor, Clover Moore, Michael Caton, Pattie Newton (supporting hubby), Maria Venuti (as the ‘Wicked Witch’), Zoe Ventoura with George Houvardas, Sami Lukas, Channel 9 ‘Today’ team Lisa Wilkinson and Richard Wilkins amongst many others.
