Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize 2011
The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize is a national acquisitive prize for sculptures of smaller dimensions and it has attracted strong support from artists, collectors and critics since its inception in 2001. Each year, from the more than five hundred sculptures entered by national and international artists, around forty finalists are exhibited for sixteen days at the historic Redleaf Council Chambers in Double Bay. The free exhibition is launched annually in October and is open to the public. Artist floor talks are also presented in conjuction with the exhibition. All sculptures are under 80 cm in any dimension, with the prize using eminent judges appointed each year.
The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize totals $13,000 across three award categories:
- The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize: an acquisitive award of $10,000 AUD
- The Special Commendation: a non-acquisitive award of $2,000 AUD
- The Viewers’ Choice: a non-acquisitive award of $1,000 AUD.
The judges of the 2011 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize are Dr Gene Sherman AM (Executive Director – Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation) and Professor Ted Snell AM (Chair of the Visual Arts Board Australia Council).
Winning sculptures will be on display from Saturday 22 October – Sunday 6 November, 9am – 6pm weekdays, 10am – 4pm weekends at the Woollahra Council’s historic Redleaf building.
