York 75 scores a goal in the CBD
Justin Hemmes, Sydney’s perpetual motion entrepreneur, was on hand to greet the 200 happy ‘punters’ at the opening party for his new bar. York 75 bar, with it’s tartan wallpaper and deer heads all the wall, is just around the corner and up the lift from the entrance to Justin’s CBD Hotel in King Street.
Pretty ‘sporty girls’ in a variety of ‘club’ shirts (and not a lot else) posed and giggled with friends of Justin’s and sporting identities as hearty, blokey canapés and drinks went round the field of play. The menu that will be on offer for York 75 has been created by Chef Jeremy Strode of Bistro Trode in the CBD Hotel.
Girls, if you were wondering where all the men were in Sydney this night they were at York 75 where for once the guys outnumbered the gals five to one. Several of the sprinkling of girls were seen trotting down King Street after the opening with Wendell Sailor on their arm – the cardboard cutout version that was a fun addition to the party.
Wendell himself was the front man for interviews with guests during a live cross from the bar to Channel 9’s The Footy Show.
Interestingly, although sports from around the world were being beamed live on all 20 of the screens located throughout the bar, the constant hubbub of chatter throughout the evening reminded us how much people in this tech age still enjoy some person to person interaction.
